Instructions for Completing the Scholarship Application

To apply, candidates must:

  • Completely fill out application
  • Incoming freshmen transcripts need to show class rankings and grade point average
  • Incoming freshmen should also submit a letter of recommendation from a high school counselor or principal
  • Attach verification that the student is currently enrolled on a full time basis at an accredited post-secondary institution in Corpus Christi or Kingsville or has been officially accepted by such an institution (fax to 361-888-9473)
  • If awarded, the student and parents/guardians agree to an orientation with the scholarship awards committee to review education/career track
  • Complete all required documents by April 10, 2009

Following the receipt of all applications by April 10, 2009, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee. Based on those interviews and the application materials, the Scholarship Committee will make the final recommendations for the scholarship awards.

An Educational Scholarship Endowment Program Administered by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation

The Mano a Mano Scholarship program was established by the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Flint Hills Resources to encourage students to complete high school and continue their education through college. Scholarships provided through the Mano a Mano Program will assist local students to achieve college degrees/certificates in technical fields of study relating to local employment which promote the growth of a local workforce, educated in the fields needed to fill job vacancies in the Corpus Christi area.

This one year scholarship is available to high school seniors, students who have recently graduated, or hold a GED Certificate from any area high school. Also included are students who are currently attending an accredited post-secondary educational institution in Corpus Christi or Kingsville, Texas. Scholarship awards are given up to $2,000. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, be full time students and demonstrate a willingness to seek employment in the Corpus Christi area following graduation. Financial need will be considered. Income verification will be required. Recipients may re-submit applications for subsequent years.
